The powerful brass sound of the Gangbé Brass Band transforms each one of their performances into a colourful celebration packed with social messages.
The band comes from the African Republic of Benin, and combines jazz with their national tradition, including the rhythms of voodoo and songs in their own native languages. The trumpet, cornet, percussion and a type of tuba called sousaphone are used in combination for a kind of fusion of jazz with their native folk songs, and results in a highly contemporary and modern jazz proposal.
