Vigo’s Sixth Imaxina Sons Jazz Festival —organized by the Local Department of Culture— opens on the night of 23rd June (the night of the Summer solstice and a night of welcome to the Summer with a festival of bonfires) with a first class concert by extraordinary French pianist Martial Solal (21:00h., Caixa Nova Cultural Centre).

A living legend of music, Martial Solal and his Newdecaband project will open a programme that is packed with concerts —Root Africaine (Romano, Sclavis, Texier), Franz Koglmann, and Dave Douglas among others—, as well as with a number of other complementary activities, including outdoor music with bands of street musicians, round table discussions and master classes. The festival also schedules BoTazz! The Swing of Jazz (Thursday, 24th June 12:00h, 17:30h. and 19:00h), a show specially prepared for children by the Galitoon Company at the Local Concert Hall. Tickets for Imaxina Sons can be purchased on Caixanova.
