The city of Vigo has enjoyed close links with jazz for decades. In fact, not just with jazz, but, more generally speaking, with contemporary music, for which Vigo has always been a close and faithful ally. Against this background it is just easy to understand why Imaxina Sons, Vigo’s Jazz Festival, has become over the last years the musical event of the summer, as it has helped define the city’s cultural identity. For this seventh edition, the festival will travel the length and breadth of a whole network of venues, transforming Vigo into a city-wide jazz club with a powerful force of attraction for jazz audiences from both outside of the city and outside of Galicia. This seventh edition of Imaxina Sons, sponsored by Vigo’s Local Department of Culture and Social Activities, will take place between the 17th and the 25th of June. Among the world renowned jazz figures who will participate in the festival are Avishai Cohen, Portico Quartet, Nils Petter Molvaer, Sidsel Endresen, Neil Cowley and John Taylor.
